Default John Eidt Obit

EIDT, JOHN WILFRED STEPHEN It is with heavy hearts that we announce John's passing on December 17, 2018. After a brief and courageous struggle with cancer, John passed peacefully at his home in Tottenham, Ontario with family by his side. Born September 12, 1942 in Chatham, Ontario to parents Fred and Dorothy (Pugh) Eidt. John spent his formative years in Merlin, Ontario where he excelled in academics and track and field. John went on to graduate from OAC University of Guelph and completed his MBA at the University of Toronto where he holds the distinction of finishing in 1 year. John enjoyed a career in Finance, working for a handful of Bay Street's more prestigious firms, where he was known for his analytical and innovative thinking. John was generous and charitable by nature, and enjoyed giving back to the community through volunteering for organizations like Habitat for Humanity. John lived every day to its fullest. He enjoyed travel, meeting new people and building many lifelong friendships. He was an avid reader and accomplished golfer, fisherman and trap shooter. John, Jane and their loyal dog Par were fortunate to spend their winter months in Naples, Florida amongst some of their most cherished friends. John had a wonderful sense of humour and loved making people laugh. He was loving, compassionate, caring, generous and driven. John is dearly missed by his wife Jane Lind and children Robert (Eryn), Stephen, Mindy, John, Ian (Kelly), Tim and grandchildren Thomas, Lauren, Rachel, Kyle, Adam, Kennedy, Campbell, Callaghan and Jack. John is also survived by his loving sister Eleonore Edmunds and her children Mark, Scott, Todd and Kelly. The family wishes to express our gratitude to St. Elizabeth Health Care for the comfort and support they provided over the final few months of his life. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on January 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. at The Boulevard Club in Toronto. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham, 905-936-3477. www.RodAbrams FuneralHome.com
